About the Founder
Michelle van Gilder
Michelle is founder of CrissCrossGlobal, a consultancy singularly focused on developing campaigns and initiatives that strengthen engagement between the United States and the rest of the world. She is also founder of The Africa Narrative established in partnership with and based at the University of Southern California’s Norman Lear Center.
A marketing and communications strategist with a deeply rooted belief that a more interconnected world is a better and more prosperous one, Michelle conceives many of the initiatives she spearheads whether it be The Africa Narrative, Lead with Languages, a campaign to strengthen foreign language education in the United States, or Lead with Exports, a campaign aimed at boosting the number of American exporters. In the entertainment space, she is currently developing a limited documentary series on what Americans think and know about the rest of the world.
Before founding CCG and a previous consultancy, Michelle was vice president at opinion research firm Zogby International where she oversaw the firm’s international practice, providing research and strategic communications strategies for Fortune 500 companies, US and foreign government agencies, NGOs and US and international media.
Michelle received her B.A. in West European Studies from the College of William & Mary. The daughter of a US diplomat, Michelle was born and raised overseas and speaks French and Italian.
